I got back from my Tasmania photo tour several weeks ago now, so this entry is long overdue. I managed to lock myself out of my own website for a while… That’s frustrating.
So I spent 10 days in March tramping around the Tarkine region in the North West corner of Tasmania with 6 participants and Paul Hoelen. We had wild winds, crazy rain, fog and the occasional bit of blue sky. It was awesome!

Last Saturday evening, March 10, at 11.45pm I finally completed the web-page for my Japan Photo Tour for November 2018, by 11.50pm I had 2 bookings. The next morning, I had another booking. Monday morning I had booking number 4, Tuesday morning booking 5,6 and 7, leaving just 3 places left.

By 3.30pm Tuesday all of those places were taken and I had 4 people on the waiting list… That’s a truly amazing response and it took me completely by surprise. I am used to Bhutan and Iceland selling out fast, but fast is usually a couple of weeks, not 2.5 days… I didn’t even have time to send a newsletter…

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the booking of my Bhutan photo Tour for 2018. That’s it, we now have a full compliment for East Greenland Sailing Photo adventure for 2017. In another 3 weeks I’ll be headed off for the Greenland and Iceland Photo Tours, I can’t wait! After Iceland I’ll be headed to North Scotland to do some exploring for a possible photo tour there for 2019. It’s a place I have wanted to go for years, I may even look up a few long lost relatives from the highland clan McMullen while I am there.

This year, for the first time since 2012 I am not taking a photo tour to Bhutan. It’s not that I am sick of Bhutan, quite the contrary, I enjoy Bhutan more each time I go. It was the roads… The extensive road works from one end of the country to the other were making the driving somewhat unpleasant. The good news is that the road project is well underway and is due to be completed by the end of this year.
The other good news is that I am running another 15 day photo tour to Bhutan for 2018. As if that were not enough, I am also taking along special guest photographer Paul Hoelen as an additional Photo Guide. Paul is a highly acclaimed and very talented professional photographer residing in Tasmania. He has many years of experience guiding tours and teaching photography skills, and he is a lot of fun to hang out with. If you would like to read more about Paul and the plan for the 2018 Bhutan Photo Tour click HERE>>
