Perth Photomarket This Sunday
It’s that time again, the iconic Perth PhotoMarket and camera swapmeet is on again this Sunday, 24th July 2022. The Workshop Camera Club has been running this event about 4 times a year for 25 years now, I have been going along on and off for most of them!

COVID19 Update 2022
Returning to Covid Normal
COVID is still around, but it does look like it’s reaching a state of “normality” where we are finally accepting that we must find a way to live with it… Which in Australia has definitely NOT been the policy so far. So far we have been more “keep it out at all costs”, Which means we have missed out on all the gruelling measures and the death toll that most of the world has been enduring.

We are living in interesting times right now, something that is for most people quite unprecedented. The COVID19 pandemic has created chaos to the whole world and many people are suffering.
At a time like this it seems a little frivolous to talk about Photo Tours, but we all must do our part, so basically all of our current tours are postponed until further notice. We will post any updates here as the situation evolves (See individual tour pages for full details).
I think the most important thing right now is to remain calm and be extra nice to each other. We are all in this together, but some are doing it harder than others. Those who are older and can’t get out to shop or walk their dog, those who have lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet in this crisis. Start with your friends and neighbours, make contact with those you might not have seen for a while (we are all so busy normally), ask if you can help them. Or, if you are one of those in need, ask friends for help, there is no shame in needing a little help.
As a lovely lady, who has personally lived through 2 world wars, mentioned to me today: The way to get through these things is to pull together. We are all in this together, be generous and together we can survive it.
Be strong if you can, and be kind. See you on the other side.
Maiko and Geiko of Kyoto
Japan – More than Autumn Colours
One of my favourite cultural events on our Autumn tours to Japan is our photo shoot with some of the Maiko and Geiko of Kyoto. Known to most westerners as Geisha. This is not a word they ever use in Kyoto. In Kyoto they are Geiko – literally “Woman of Art”, and Maiko, the apprentice Geiko – Literally “Girl of Dance”.

Why we ask you to pay in JPY or US$ or €…
We price all of our international tours in the currency that our suppliers invoice us in. So Japanese Yen (JPY) for our Japan photo tours, Euro (€) for our European photo tours and US dollars (US$) for many countries that use the US$ for business, such as the Bhutan photo tour and Cambodia photo tour. Tours within Australia, such as our Tasmania Photo tour, The Karijini photo tour (in the amazing Pilbara Region of West Australia) or the Kimberley photo tour (returning soon) we price in Australian dollars (AU$) for the same reason.
