Guy Gowan workshop
I spent Sunday and Monday this week at a mindblowing two day workshop by Guy Gowan on Photoshop and advanced image retouching. I thought i knew what i was doing before i went, i thought this would be professional development, where i would add to my knowledge, maybe pick up a few useful tips and tricks to improve my processing skills… Oh, i was so wrong.
What i learnt in two days is astounding, it has changed my whole workflow, actually, that’s not really accurate, i have thrown out my whole workflow and am having a complete paradigm shift, in the world of photoshop, this guy (excuse the pun) is a god!
Guy began by telling us he hasn’t changed his workflow in 17 years, since Photoshop version 3 (we are now at 12), and none of the things Adobe has added since version 3 have convinced him to alter this. Quite a start to a photoshop seminar, needless to say, most of us were skeptical.
He then set about showing us what he meant, by the end of the first 20 minutes there were no more skeptics, just converts.
This is by far the most astounding imaging workshop i have ever been to, it really has been a total thinking turnaround, all those after market Photoshop plug-ins i was about to buy, the Nik software, the sharpening plug-ins, the re-sizing plug-ins… all off the list, i don’t need em!
Guy will be back in Perth in about 6 months, if you really want to know how to use photoshop, really use it, go to one of his seminars.
